• Pay is $25/hr and shifts are typically 4-5 hours.

Job Description:
Equipment Room (EQ) is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Music Selector to curate and play vinyl records, creating an immersive listening experience for our guests. The ideal candidate has a deep appreciation for diverse genres, an ear for sequencing, and an understanding of how music shapes the ambiance of a space. If you have a deep love for vinyl and a talent for crafting sonic journeys, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

• Thoughtfully select and play vinyl records from an in-house collection of over 1,200 LPs to complement the atmosphere.

• Maintain a seamless flow of music throughout shifts, adapting selections to the mood of the room.

• Handle vinyl records and audio equipment with care and expertise.

• Engage approaching guests in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, answering questions about the equipment and vinyl collection.

• Deliver brief, engaging presentations about selected albums during special events, such as Omakase Vinyl.

• Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to cover shifts for fellow selectors when needed.

• Collaborate with the team to support the overall vision and experience of EQ.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of various music genres and vinyl culture.

• Experience handling and playing vinyl records.

• Passion for high-fidelity sound and curated music experiences.

• Ability to read the room and adapt music selections accordingly.

• Effective communication skills and a welcoming demeanor.

• Reliability, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset.

• This is not a traditional DJ role—the ideal candidate approaches the position as a curator and storyteller, allowing the music to take center stage. Rather than being the focus, the selector serves as a guide, thoughtfully presenting each album and creating a seamless listening experience for guests.
