Kate Bush - Hounds of Love

$49.99

1982 saw the release of Kate Bush's 4th LP. Still teenage when her first LP was released, Kate was 24 when The Dreaming was released. She was already well established and successful, and The Dreaming is the first LP she produced herself. The album was more experimental in terms of musical styles and production choices, and featured extensive use of an early digital sampling keyboard (Fairlight CMI) and general dense layering of sounds. The Dreaming received mixed reviews but has become well-loved in her canon of unique, otherworldly music. Cited by artists as diverse as Bjork to Big Boi from Outkast this album is Kate Bush at her most experimental and dreamy.

Hounds of Love is Kate Bush's 5th LP, released in 1985. After the experimentation and extensive studio time of The Dreaming, Kate started recording Hounds of Love in her new home studio using piano, voice, the Fairlight synth, and a Linn drum machine. The basic tracks were finished in a 24 track studio with extensive overdubs and additional production work (again by Kate herself). Hounds of Love saw a return of commercial and critical success and spawned the biggest single of her career, "Running Up That Hill", which saw renewed worldwide success in 2022 after the song's prominent use in 'Stranger Things'. Hounds of Love is catchy and accessible yet also artful and weird. Her songwriting and vocals inspiring, wonderful and unique. The work of a once-in-a-lifetime artist at her creative peak.
